I LOVE this site! Many many thanks to all who replied to my message (entitled "Unemotional Tie to debt?").

Interesting note: I paid over $4,500 in student loan interest for 1998. Is that astounding, or what? Yes, interest on student loans are an above-the-line deduction, up to $1000/year, phased out if one's income is between $45,000 and $50,000.

By the way, I went to law school, and the nickname I earned there was The Iron Maiden (I am a WOMAN, btw). No, I am NOT a lawyer (passed the bar, blah blah, swore I'd never slave away in a law firm). Yes, I LOVE my current job/career, and no, it does not pay a whole heck of a lot, relative to what some of my friends are making (but they mostly work under fear and oppression). My second favorite message board is -- you guessed it!-- LBYM!

Happy Fooling.
