I maintain that the key is getting rid of junk and clutter, not organizing it better.
I suspect these strategies are better solutions than buying stuff at some shop.

I agree with that! For 6 years I've been working on organizing and decluttering and I LOVE the Container Store. But now that we're down to the nitty gritty we're left with lots of decorations we don't like and MANY storage containers (shelves, mini shelves, plastic boxes, baskets, etc.) with nothing in them.
