A friend and co-worked of DW, (let’s call her Becky) had her last chemotherapy session for breast cancer two-weeks ago and a bunch from DW’s school decided to celebrate. Which was nice after a double mastectomy and chemo treatments.

Apparently, our little town does things a little differently. Seems one of our oncology units let’s you hoot-and-holler on your last session; culminating with the ringing of a cowbell. Becky was really looking forward to, if nothing else, the ringing of the cowbell.

For some reason, Becky wound up in Houston for her last session. As they were wrapping it up, she asked about the cowbell—and they looked at her like she was nuts. No celebration. No hoot. And no holler.

At our celebration, they went out and bought a cowbell for her to have and ring as often as she wants.

Best t-shirt of the night: Yeah, these are fake. But my real one tried to kill me.
