I notice that the right wing, rather vocal conservatives and libertarians have basically taken over. Notice on 'Best of' most of it is dominated by them. It's like Rush Limbaugh, Drudge, Breitbart.com and any other crazy, over the top whacko is living with us right here. Yes, I know I can put any of them on ignore. It doesn't help when 3/4 of the posts are grayed out.

I don't really need to spend so much time on the boards, but it still makes me a little sad to think one of the reasons is lack of balance here.

Don't worry about it. Recs don't mean much in the first place. And about 80% time a one line zinger will get you on the Best Of. The right wing posts tend to appear on the "Best Of" in rough correlation with how bad the Republican party is getting beat up at the moment.

For example, before the election there were lots of posts about how Romney was surging and if you posted a breakdown about all the ways Baghdad Nate Silver was lying to you, then that was good for at least 25 recs. I think deep down inside they knew the election was lost and were flailing at straws. Think of it as a contrarian indicator.

The next big political fight is the sequester if and you post "It was Obama's idea and now he's against it!" you'll get a bunch of recs. We'll see how that one turns out, but I don't see any scenario where Boehner escapes with much that he can call a victory. It basically will come down to who blinks first on defense spending, and who the American people will blame. I think it is pretty clear at this point how that will play out.
