I opened a Roth IRA this year and when I sent the check I wrote that it was my year 2000 contribution. I later realized that I have not made a 1999 contribution yet! Can I still send another check as my 1999 contribution?

Based on the booklets my broker sent me, you have up until April 17th to get the payment in. I don't think the order should matter.
