Have I've mischaracterized your opinion? I thought you made it pretty clear that you disliked the behavior of that app. Did I misunderstand you?

Where did you get the idea that Apple updates ALL copies it finds? That's wrong, and has never been the case. Else all my clones would have been updated for the past decade at least! Way off the mark…

The update mechanism is significantly different than it was during most of the past decade. And until recently, there was no Mac App Store.

In 10.6 and 10.7, apps purchased from the Mac App store are also updated through the Mac App store, but system updates are updated through Software Update.

Starting with 10.8, all updates (including system updates) are installed by the Mac App store.

I'm thinking you've slipped a cog here steven…

I'm pretty sure all my cogs are intact.
