I refuse to be that pessimistic. Many of the most powerful countries are working on reducing fossil fuel consumption because they know that not only is it a finite resource, but is causing climate disruption. I believe we are late in doing something, but I haven't lost all hope. And not only that, but as the planet changes, people will reduce in numbers due to the catastrophic changes (perhaps in 25 to 50 years), which will help to slow the changes somewhat. This is not the end of mankind but the end of an era.
