I remember stories of people who met Howard Hughes and treated him like a bum, not knowing he was a billionaire. In my mind everyone should be given the same consideration, because you don't know for sure who they are and what they can do for you in the future.

From my experience, you can have all the assets in the world and without a regular income, getting a mortgage can be pretty difficult. If the mortgage will not be in your name, why would anyone work with you - mortgage or real estate agent ? Do have POAs ?

As for being a "serious" buyer... what constitutes a "serious" buyer. ....Someone who is going to buy a house today and has cash in hand?

Without a regular income, yes.
