I routinely use these to invest in foreign countries, buying when they sell at signficant discount to NAV. I currently own CH (Chile), TWN (Taiwan) and a small position in TKF (Turkey). Chile is a very solid country - in some ways the most solid in South America. Chile while traditionally somewhat dependent on copper, has developed a nice diversity of industries including financial, wine etc. in recent years. The fiscal policy is sound -probably better than the US. Chile has increasing trade with China and Asia. http://chileeconomy.blogspot.com/On a similar topic Thomas Herzfeld who runs a firm specializing in Closed End Fund investing was on Nightly Business Report tonight. http://herzfeld.com/He had a great year in 2009. His current recommendation (and apparently a large holding) is DCA. DCA was a fund specializing in realty investments but now has gone into other areas. I will be taking a look.sw
