I seem to recall seeing several commercials advertizing a Platinum card from either First USA or MBNA America at 6 (possibly 5).9% APR for the first 6 months, then at 12.99%. Check CNBC, MSNBC and CNNfn.

In lieu of that, pick up the phone, call Wachovia Bank, apply for a Prime for Life Visa/MC (currently 8.5%).
In lieu of that, join a credit union and get a loan (typically Prime+1-2%).

Transfer the balance, and never, ever deal with First USA again.

I am fed up with all the rumors surrounding "threaten to close/transfer and the issuer will play ball". I've yet to capitalize on this (maybe I'm simply not forceful enough). I choose to shop around, find a better rate, and go.

Of course, 12 months from now, credit debt will not be a problem!!

(Not affiliated with Wachovia other than a customer).
