I should clarify this - it was kinda late when I wrote it. The HTC G2 syncs "automagically" through Gmail. Once I have signed in to Gmail on the phone, sync takes place through whatever network is open, whether WiFi or the T-Mobile 3G net.

I would strongly prefer to keep my contacts on my local machine. I want to sync via USB. The OEM software originally designed to do this for earlier generation HTC Google Android phones is incompatible with this phone, which apparently is designed only to sync wirelessly. So I need a workaround.

So far I am looking at Mobisynapse (which doesn't seem to be quite what I'm after) and PDANet.

Does anybody have any previous experience with either of these 3rd party apps? Or any other suggestions?

p.s., sorry if the "get off my lawn" thing sounded brusque; it was meant to be self-deprecating humor.
