I still say there are too many teams, or at least too many in areas that won't support the teams long term. Winnipeg moved to Phoenix, and now there's another team in Winnipeg? What's changed? Hockey in Phoenix? I dunno. Two teams in Florida! I think they expanded too fast.

Agreed. With a few exceptions, the NHL is a regional game which should stay north of the Mason-Dixon line. I get that they'd like national TV contracts and all that, but if I were in metro Miami seeing an NHL game would be fairly low on my to-do list, even if I were a transplanted Yankee. Oh, I'd be interested in seeing the Wings when they came, but outside of that, there's a reason why I moved to southern FL. And that reason would be to escape the snow/cold.

I don't think I ever met a hockey fan in the Navy who wasn't born/raised in the North. The southerners just didn't understand it. Football they understand. Baseball they understand. Ice skating is just not something they have in their realm of life experiences.
