I take the standard deduction on my federal tax return. Can I take an additional deduction for value of clothing and other items I contribute to charities while still taking standard deduction?

No. These charitable contributions are included in the standard deduction. The President has proposed some sort of deduction in addition to the standard deduction, but nothing's been enacted. Do check your state's rules, because I believe some do allow this type of deduction.
