I think it was meant to be a guideline, sheila, not a hard and fast rule. And they were discussing use of phones while conducting business.

Part of the discussion centered on what happens at meetings. Younger people tend to check their emails (on their phones) every few minutes, while older people don't.

I, probably as an "older" person, find the habit of keeping one's face stuck to a smartphone screen really annoying, particularly when you're engaged in a meeting or a conversation with someone in person, nevermind the germ issue or stress issue.

But I have an old dumb phone so no one cares what I think.
