I think Lynch pointed out that if an industry had favorable economics, it was often worth investing in several of the companies in that industry as all would like have favorable results and you never quite knew which one would do the best. But the harder part is finding the good industries...

In cases like that I like to use sector ETFs. I'm invested in an IT fund, a utiltiies fund and a clean energy fund (clean energy has not done well, but at least the fund still has some value compared to some of the individual companies I was looking at)
