I think our health care system needs to be revised, but I find the idea of guaranteeing coverage for substance abuse quite a problem.Sure these people need help, but putting that on the back of the health care system to me is likely to be a costly boondoggle.I recall the Medicare part C story from 1990 or so. In the midst of the AIDs epidemic they passed catastropic illness coverage, in effect requiring the elderly to pay for treatment of AIDs victims. The bill passed, and was signed, but there was such an outcry that Congress repealed the act almost immediately.Looks like we are headed down this track again. Getting basic coverage for everyone and controlling the rate of growth in costs should be priorities. But I'm inclined to limit coverage for substance abuse (as most health insurance policies already do).Once again it looks like the liberals have their agenda. Off the deep end if they can get away with it.
