I think that statement on the show is way too general, if that was an accurate synopsis.

It does not take into account no matching employer payments and the fact that there are investment options that are truly bad.

This is the kind of thing that must be seriously considered.

You can buy stocks or funds in a regular brokerage account and hold for the long term that can do much better than some of the 401K programs that I have seen.
