I think the article was not so much about what companies have tablets on the market today. ...but more what these tablet devices cause people to do.

The term used in this article is Mass-complacency and Merriam Wester defines that as:

self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies

That would be the definition of the PC industry.

Not to belittle those that actually Do produce something. But if Creation was the be all and end all of the PC world, about 95% of them would have been confiscated long ago. For what most PC users do with PC's, or Macs for that matter, the iPad is serious overkill.
