I think what he's getting at is that someone else (taxpayers) is footing the bill for OP's insurance, yet he's upset that it isn't as convenient as plans he would have to pay for himself and has to deal with more bureaucracy.

I think you misread the way the thread progressed. Subprimate was responding to the OPs statement that s/he is French and used to the free healthcare in that country. The fact is that the "free" health care in France is funded using tax revenues.

(If your interpretation is what Subprimate intended then he misunderstood the OPs meanings of free healthcare.)
