I think you need to figure out what you are looking for. Is your main goal to watch netflix? hulu? amazon prime movies?

Connecting the Fire to Roku doesn't make any sense to me.

Roku, Fire, Apple TV are all devices that retrieve data (usually movies, tv shows or music) from the internet (either wirelessly or a wired ethernet connection) and sends the data to a video device (most likely your tv).

A few tvs can do this without a device since they have applications built in and can connect to the internet without the need for another device.

An ipad shouldn't need a Roku, fire, etc. You can download apps for the ipad to allow you to view content such as Netflix (I"m not sure if an app exists for Amazon prime) and hulu.

I think you may be mixing up technologies.

Of course to make things more confusing not all devices support all forms of content. For example an Apple TV device does not have an app for Amazon prime so if you want Amazon prime movies/tv you need a Roku or a device that supports it.

That is why I said you really need to figure out what you want to do with the device.

Good luck
Rich
