I think you're right on target, although I'd want to take a look at ReplayTV to double check.

As an industry/product, the only word I can come up with is "awsome." I hadn't heard of this until now (I suppose that puts me behind the curve), but I was tempted to order one already. For all the interruptive calls that come during viewing, or all of those times missing the start by 5 minutes, or VCR programming that missed because some stupid game was on prior and then on top of that, wanting to get to bed at a reasonable time but wanting to see it "that day" without waiting for the recording to finish.

But most importantly, I watch quite a few British programs. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to rehear an utterance on Mystery, Red Dwarf, or Chef!, or Dr. Who and hit the rewind button only to realize I'm watching live! Same for casually watching the news or some other such thing while surfing the net or programming and missing something that I'd like to skip back to. And it costs only a little more than my first (and only) VCR. My only concern is the cost of an HDTV upgrade.

But it doesn't look like they've registered for an IPO yet. I'd definitely like to take a closer look at their financials and business plan.
