I thought it is the same word in English, so it is not. I don´t have a English dictionary with me so I will discribe it to you. It looks like a nut, brown and you use only tiny bits because it smells intensivly, in some recipes you do use the peel which is called macis. But the soup will taste good, without the muscat nut.

Are you thinking of mace, which is the outside of the nutmeg?
