I too called up Chase and told them I want to cancel my account due to the annual fee. They tried to discourage me from cancelling, but since their "manager was out", they could not make a decision about the annual fee at this time. I was told I would get an answer by Monday. Fine I said, I'll wait till then, but I already got my Citibank Preapproved Platinum Visa form filled out. I'll give them till Monday to reply or else I'm walking I said.

We'll see.
