I too eat a 40-30-30 diet. And I love the Balance Bar product. My wife asked me to check out their stock after seeing the Balance drink at Trader Joe's. (Read the label though, the drink is not even close to 40-30-30.)

Anyway, I got their investor's packet (Annual report, shareholder's letter, some other fluff). Since I am just moving beyond the mechanical investing methods in TMFIG, I first compare stocks to the Foolish8 criteria. By those in the book, they were like 6 1/2 out of 8. Close enough that I kept investigating.

Looking deeper I found that they are having some problems with product differentiation (too many new products in a saturated market) and European competition. I decided to pass for now, but keep an eye on things.

Good luck to you.
