I totally get body dysmorphia and the inability to realize when you've gone too far, but I don't get why when an actor like Matthew McConoughy
loses a ton of weight for a movie role, people don't criticize him for it, but when a woman loses weight with a goal in mind, people immediately claim that she's anorexic. or ruining her health.

Losing weight for a movie role is more of a personal issue. Until the movie is complete and advertising starts, the issue isn't widely publicized. By that time, he had likely regained weight to a normal range. Since I don't read fan magazines and only occassionally watch TMZ, I don't know which movie or how much weight he had lost or gained.

She was on national TV winning a prize, and not looking healthy. It is going to create more response.
