I understand that continental drift is an outmoded phrase, but I don't get your reference to coriolis force, esp. since there is a hurricane trying to form out there right now. Continental drift is indeed outmoded. The proper term is "plate tectonics." And the proper term for the air circulation caused by Earth's rotation is the Coriolis effect. Nitpicky, maybe, but shouldn't science books be as accurate as possible?Ellen
