I understand the desire to be technically correct, but at some point the effort is not worth it.

You have obviously never met a BARP before! (Borderline Anal-Retentive Perfectionist) First time she heard that term (someone referring to me), DW's only comment was "Borderline???!!"

I don't really care about making a "profit" in capital-gain form; we use the bond fund (Schwab Ultra-Short term Bond fund, SWYPX) as an alternative to the paltry yields on money market accounts. In the two years we've owned it, it has paid $240 in dividends, while losing $30 in value. Hopefully it won't take a beating if rates go up fast. Average maturity is 0.4 years, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed...
