I used my Garmin nuvi 670 for quite a while, accepting it's foibles.. Then on a Midwest trip, my Niece had her iPhone in the backseat, a very early iPhone, and she kicked it's rear, time after time. So now my Garmin's battery is so shot it won't even boot with the cord plugged in.. Really debating letting it go away. The latest iPhone has been serving us well, responds to changes faster without 'Recalculating', over and over... I'm thinking of getting an iPad for travel, let my naviguesser DW run it, plus all the other functions while on the road.. Have to get cellular version, but we're about ready to pop for one.. Advantage - portability... And maybe close to that $1500, but a lot more useful...
