I used to feel that I was an outlier, that my advancing age had not added to the cost of elderly medical care. I take no prescription drugs, I am never sick (I have never had a serious illness or even a broken bone.)

That paragraph could've described my husband until recently...never sick, rarely saw a doctor. I think he had 2 or 3 physicals over the first 20 years I knew him, plus one visit for a deer tick bite to get prophylactic doxycycline. The worst thing he ever got was an occasional stress headache and a rare cold (maybe once very couple of years, and they ended in a day or two--what an immune system!). Didn't even have allergies till we moved to SC.
