I used to use Discover for the cash back, but was annoyed at all the hoops you had to jump through - they'd only give you cash back when it came to $20, you'd have certain categories you have to register for in order to get higher cash back - I didn't feel like playing their game anymore, so I don't use the card.My main Visa is an REI Visa through US Bank. I get 1% back on everything (and extra if I shop at an REI store, which I rarely do). Nothing special to sign up for, nor categories to look out for. I don't know if there's a monthly/yearly cap, but I don't think so. I do have to wait for them to cut a check every July for my annual rebate, but this year I'm getting $115 back and have never paid a dime of interest to them, nor do I have an annual fee. I charge all my recurring bills to it, utilities, food, and then pay it off monthly. It's worked very well for me. I'd rather get a tiny bit less back on purchases if it means not jumping through hoops.
