I visited Portugal and Spain about 30 years ago. Liked Portugal much better. Being closer to the water, it's much cooler than Spain in summer. Also very nice people--I made friends and they visited me in the States a year later. They eat a lot of fish, and when I was there they cooked a lot of it on open fires (even in restaurants), and it was GREAT! Their crime rate was much better than Spain's--we were warned about bag-snatchers in Spain, but not Portugal. I do not know how much of this is still true today. And they're very friendly to Americans, as are the Spanish.Fado I can do without, I like Flamenco (Spain) much better, but the Portugese really LOVE their FADO.2old
