I want to thank you for this poem...
Funny thing...I just watched Jim Valvano's famous talk on ESPN....where he talked about spending time with his family....he died of cancer shortly thereafter.
I spent part of the day helping a friend prepare the funeral arrangements for his wife's funeral....she seemed perfectly healthy just 3 weeks ago...but melanoma is a virulent form of cancer....she was beautiful...inside and out...her husband is broken hearted, but strong in his conviction that she is now in a better place.
Your poem from a little girl touched me .... it is a frequent refrain of mine to help folks smell the roses along the way....no one ever sat on their death bed and wished that they had stayed at the office and worked harder...
My goal in life is to live it without regrets...to have no regrets in the amount of time that I spend with my wife, my children, my grandchild....
Work and "stuff" can crowd out what is important in life...but relationships with family and friends are your only real assets...figuratively speaking. You can be worth millions of dollars, and have no friends and therefore, in my estimation, you are bankrupt.
So..thanks again for your post and a reminder to us that we should be more focused on living life than worrying about whether the market advances or declines in a given day.
Fool On.
