I wanted to add another tidbit of information concerning the difference between general partners and limited partners. General partners have unlimited liability if the company becomes insolvent. Limited partners do not share that liability and are placed ahead of common shareholders in receiving their capital back if the company becomes insolvent. Hope that helps too.
