I was about to post a question about changing careers, which I am in training for now, but finding it is harder for me than I expected. I came across your post and had to reply.

I say, hats off to you for doing this wisely, and I am remembering a saying I have looked to for years...Find a job you love and you'll never have to work a day in your life. I say go for the change. I think you can always get a degree in law enforcement or a job there if need be with your current experience, but go for the engineering degree.

I personally did take nursing school years ago, and dropped out, raised kids and used the classes to get a science degree, only to work in factories ever since. I am tired of that, so just now started school to get into health care once again, only in the laboratory instead. That is more my bag. The longer you wait the harder it becomes. Do what you love, but for the meantime, hang in there with your job until your wife finishes school, then it's your turn. You will be happier for it, and are doing it smartly, so it should be no problem for you. Good luck in your endeavor.
