I was referring to the various efforts used by Democrats to keep prices low and penalize oil companies. "Odd and even" days when you could pump gas --- that was a winner! 55 MPH speed limit and so on.

Um, president Nixon was the one who enacted sweeping price and allocation controls (including odd-even distribution days at the pumps) in response to the 1973 oil boycott.

The Emergency Highway Energy Conservation Act of 1974 passed the Senate with a unanimous 85-0 vote. It was signed into law by, um, president Nixon.

Those dirty, stinking democrats.
