I will be pulling my credit reports & possibly changing all my usernames/passwords. I just watched Identity Thief too. Maybe that jinxed me. :)

Unless you just don't pull your credit reports regularly (you can get a free copy each year at www.annualcreditreport.com), I would not worry too much about it from the way you described this. For whatever reason, I had a 3-month period where I had 3 different credit accounts fall prey to this with one of those accounts getting hit twice. None of it had anything to do with fraud that would hit my credit report.

When you go to a restaurant and they take your card off to run it, they can quickly steal all the information they need to process basic online transactions. Fortunately, this does not give them the information needed to open credit lines in your name. Account takeover fraud of this type is a bit of a pain (you may have to change your account number for many vendors), but it is the simplest and least dangerous of all forms of identity theft.
