I work in the banking industry and have found for myself personally (and hundreds of clients) the easiest way to handle a large monthly payment with regards to budgeting/paying off early is to simply write TWO checks monthly for your bill. If you get paid on the 15th and the 30th like most people, write a check on the 15th for half of the amount due (or more if you want to pay it off faster) set it aside for two weeks and then write the other half (or more) on the 30th, and send both checks in with your statement. This avoids the "rich weeks" and the "poor weeks" Use the "Fool Calculator" to figure out how much each "half" payment needs to be to payoff your loan in the time you would like. A couple of bucks extra goes a long, long way.
