I would agree 100% with this advice. Don't trade unsecured debt for secured debt. The big problem is that many people (not Fools) don't cancel the credit card accounts, but go out and spend even more. I also think that 125% home loans are a ripoff. They are designed for one purpose, to get the borrower so buried that he/she will be paying on the loan forever.
