I would just like to point out that you don't neccesarily have to plead not guilty in order to get a reduced ticket/fine. I got a ticket a few years back in Colorado Springs where they have a policy that if you haven't gotten a ticket in 3 years the points are automatically halved and the fine reduced if you go into court. The police officer was kind enough to tell me this so I went into court (he also told me that there was a plan to make this truly automatic, i.e. no court appearance, but it wasn't yet in effect). They reduced my points from 4 to 1 and my fine in half (the officer suggested the higher point reduction since I "had a good attitude" - this was written on the court copy of my ticket for the DA to look at). It took about 2 hours of my time. From what I've heard this is common practice in many places to lower the points/fine if you go into court.Lael
