I would like to add that the www.brkdirect.com calculators can be helpful when computing the relative values of pension annuities offered by an employer. For example, let's say your employer offers the option of a monthly annuity or a one time lump-sum payment. You can plug in the figures for the annuity, determine it's current "street value" and compare it to what your employer is offering.Also, note that some annuities offer survivor benefits (but reduce payments accordingly).
