I would like to ask exactly which line of Form 1040 shows the Modified Adjusted Gross Income for the ACA premium credit eligibility. There is no line that shows Modified Adjusted Gross Income on a tax return.Instead, we start with Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) which IS on your tax return. On your 2012 1040, it is line 37 or 38 - and the current draft Form 1040 for 2013 uses the same line numbers. Then you modify that figure as noted in the last paragraph you quoted:Modified adjusted gross income is the adjusted gross income on your federal income tax return plus any excluded foreign income, nontaxable Social Security benefits (including tier 1 railroad retirement benefits), and tax-exempt interest received or accrued during the taxable year.So take line 37, add in excluded foreign income, the non-taxable portion of your social security benefits, and tax exempt interest.--Peter
