I would not sell real estate. I think your real return is much hight than 5 1/2%.. If that is the income %, then that does not include capital appreciation of property which with that yield will be much higher. It would have to be .
Average dividend yield on stocks is like 2%. Why? because of capital appreciation of underlie value of asset.
YOu know some people live nice lives on 44k a year.
IMO selling the real estate should be last consideration. I'd look at some of those mutual funs, what are they returning.
Of course,this is only one persons opinion. Opinions I got.
