Common Goofy, I know you are smarter than that. Credit card companies suffer about ~1% fraud rate. For the $10 transaction that adds a dime to the cost, while for the $1,000 transaction it adds $10.

And then we have all the air miles and cash back schemes that are on a percentage basis.
