I'd like to change the tenor of this a little. I am taking the Rule Your Retirement Seminar and stopped by to see what the current topic was. Coming in on the end of your conversation is a little rude so I hope you don't mind my butting in. The subject of conserving principal is very important to most of the retirees in the RYR seminar, and I am in that box.

One of the resources in the RYR lessons led me to this link <http://www.thestreet.com/funds/managerstoolbox/1423956.html> where they discuss how some universities protect their endowment's assets. Makes very interesting reading. This site also has an interesting calculator available - a functional demo can be downloaded, the full version costs $25. The URL for the discussion about calculator is <http://www.thestreet.com/funds/managerstoolbox/10023378.html>

Also, MF has a large library of calculators at <http://www.fool.com/calcs/calculators.htm?ref=PFinAg#ret>

Hope this helps a little.
