I use that expression too, but I don't happen to have $40 billion cash lying around earning next to nothing. If it were really true that sun and solar energy were viable investments, I think we might expect Buffett to actually do some of that investing. And no, buying wind and solar projects with iron-clad contracts to sell all the energy back to a utility, which has signed these contracts for political reasons or to gather tax credits, doesn't count.
