Foolyap made a comment that suggests the movie independence day is a fair movie at best. I, on the other hand, happened to enjoy it immensely. Which got me to thinking about the movie, and remembering the moronicy (Yeah, I made that up) of infecting alien computers with computer viruses, among other stupid things. Which leads me to ponder, how is it that such a fun and enjoyable movie can contain such horribleness and still be fun and enjoyable? How do "bad" great movies get away with it? Many people absolutely loved the Baysplosion trilogy (I am not one of them), but I did really enjoy ID4. Am I as bad as them? What's the defining characteristic that puts one bad movie solidly in the bad category and one in the good? Will Smith versus Shia Lebouf?

Just musing. Talk amongst yourselves.
