If car pools are not the thing for this author, has she ever heard of public transportation? If there were more public demand which motivated governments to create better public trans systems, she would be able to go most places she wanted at her own convenience. And on a bus or subway, she would not have to talk or interact with anyone, just give the other passengers disapproving looks because they have less status than she does--there's individuality for you!Seriously, even if you care nothing for the environment, here are some benefits of carpooling:1) the obvious savings in gas money and car maintenance2) if someone else is driving, you can spend the commute time reading, sleeping, or something else and add a few extra minutes of productive time to your day.3) if your car dies one day, there may be a fellow carpooler who can drive and get everyone to work.
