If I get a Prius to replace my car I think I will reduce fuel consumption by at least 50% and maybe closer to 60%. Also, will likely buy one under warranty so save in repair costs and by getting rid of Excursion get rid of vehicle that right now is costing us most in repair costs. The savings on the Lexus will probably be less in terms of fuel...more around 20% to 25%.

How long will this extend your debt payoff?

I think no more than a year, perhaps 9 months, and possibly not at all. That is, if I calculate our debt payoff based upon not considering bonuses then this would extend it a year. If we didn't do the cars we would be in a position to pay off by early next year. If we do the cars probably toward the end of next year.

The not at all possibility is based upon the possibility of DH's bonus that he would get around this time next year. This year his bonus was higher than I had projected. The possibility exists it could be large next year and we could use it to pay off the debt without it taking longer than I think.
