If I want to have a durable poa assigned to an individual for myself, would having a Legal Zoom created document vs. a private hired lawyer made document have any less credibility or legal standing ?

You're assuming a POA document prepared by a lawyer has legal standing. It generally doesn't. I have a lovely Durable POA form prepared by my father's estate-planning attorney, naming me as Attorney-in-Fact, but every bank, insurance company, phone company, credit card company, the IRS, etc, has had the same reaction to it, viz, "Oh, we have our OWN forms! Here..."

The reason is, a durable POA document can be revoked, therefore you could give them your lawyer's form, then revoke it, and they'd never know. However, if you use their forms, you'd have to go to them to revoke it, and then they'd know. So they feel more confident honoring their own forms.

So, the answer is: It depends. What is the purpose?
