If it helps, it's not just the Asperger's. I have the same issues at times.

It sucks because there really are no words to adequately describe how it feels.

I've often used the not-original analogy of a dark hole. You can see the top, you know it *shouldn't* be so d@mn hard to reach, you sort of remember being able to see out of it before. And you fight, and climb and fight your own exhaustion but when it looks like you might be able to clime out of the hole, someone kicks you in the face and you fall back in. But now, the hole is deeper, and it's even harder to climb out of.
